Secure tenancies and coronavirus: emergency temporary measures
A landlord must give notice of their intention to seek possession of a secure tenancy. Under the Coronavirus Act 2020, these notice periods must now be for a period of at least three months. The Act also adds a requirement to give three months’ notice in respect of a fixed term secure tenancy.
These provisions apply only until 30th September 2020, unless extended by the Secretary of State. He may also extend the three-month minimum notice period to a maximum of six months.
